After interning with Free the States during the summer of 2021, Madison York joined full-time as Communications Specialist in May 2022. Currently in her final year as a physics major at the University of Texas at Dallas, she tutors AP physics and calculus, piano, and writing in her spare time. During her stay at UTD, she spent three years working for the university student newspaper – one of which as editor-in-chief – and was an officer in her school’s abolition club, also for three years. 

Maddie’s main duties at Free the States include proofreading all print and digital materials, writing for the blog, helping with store inventory and mailing, assisting with social media engagement and office administration, and preparing for and participating in events and outreach on an as-need basis.
